The Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) assist the Clergy in the distribution of Holy Communion at special Masses and holidays throughout the year. One of the ways they can be of most service here at St. Gertrude’s is to bring communion to the sick, disabled or homebound in their homes, the hospital, or rehab/care facilities, such as Rosewood on the Sound.

In order to become an EMHC, an individual should speak to and be recommended by the pastor and attend the training offered by the Diocese during the Spring and the Fall. Please see the bulletin or DRVC.org in Spring and Fall for available training session schedule and contact the pastor or call the rectory to request participating in the ministry. Especially needed are those to bring communion to those who cannot attend Mass.
